After 2022 all Panama citizens will enjoy the privilege to enter any of the Schengen states of their choice without the need for a visa. The Panama nationals will be allowed to enter the Schengen area without applying for the full visa for a short term stay. All the Panama nationals and the other citizens from the 60 eligible countries will also enjoy the same privilege after implementing the new system called ETIAS. The system will be available after the last quarter of 2022. After its implementation, every citizen from the eligible country list will be legally bound to apply through this platform and get a visa waiver. The process of getting the visa waiver to enter the Schengen country will be very simple and straightforward. In a matter of 10 minutes, you will fill the application form and get the visa waiver authorisation. The electronic authorisation will be emailed to you, which you have provided at the time of filling the application form.

The main purpose of this system is to increase the safety and security in the EU. The system is in the pipeline, and all the important requisites are under process. The system is a combination of all the databases which the immigration and border security use to screen the travellers and look for any threats or flag. The ETIAS will incorporate all the databases of law enforcement agencies, namely the Interpol, SIS II and other local and international databases. The purpose of this integration is to look for any potential threat and stop the individual before they come to the border of the Schengen area. The ETIAS will screen for the individual from Panama and all the other 60 countries. The system will deny access to the person who has any ties to any obnoxious organisation or is has committed some serious crimes in the motherland or some other area. ETIAS will stop all the travellers who are not safe for the EU area and deny them the authorisation right away. This system will improve the safety and security of EU citizens and travels alike.

After implementing the system, the visa waiver will allow the Panama citizen to stay in any of the member states for 90 days. The 90 days period must not cross in the 180 consecutive days. Not all the European states are part of the Schengen area. Currently, the 22 states and other small de-facto states are a member of the scene area. ETIAS will allow 90 days to stay and travel to any member states without the need for a visa if you have your ETIAS authorisation with you.

Currently, if you have a valid Panama passport, you don't need any visa to enter the Schengen states. Reach the border or airport, and the immigration will see the authenticity of your passport, and you will get 90 days to stay in any of the desired Schengen states. But after the last quarter of 2022 and the implementation of the new visa waiver system, things will be different. Any Panama national with a valid passport will not be allowed to board any vehicle bound to the Schengen area unless the traveller has the authorisation from the ETIAS. The traveller will have to apply for the visa waiver and get it before leaving the homeland and board the vehicle to the Schengen area. The STIAS online portal provides an online application form that is easy to fill. Within minutes, the traveller will get the authorisation at home on the email address provided at the beginning of the application process. The ETIAS will require the following from the applicant:

  • A Panamanian passport
  • Three months validity of passport upon arrival in the EU
  • A valid debit or credit card
  • Sufficient funds to pay the fee
  • A current email address

The travels from all the eligible countries must keep their passport and valid ID all the time in the Schengen are to avoid any issue and problem.

The application form will require the following information from the Panama citizens:

  • Full name
  • Passport
  • Nationality detail
  • Current address
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Parents’ information
  • Credit or debit card
  • Phone number
  • Current email address

There are some other questions that you will also have to answer at the time of the online application:

  • Security information
  • Human trafficking
  • Past European travel information
  • Information regarding travel to some conflict areas
  • Employment history
  • Drug use
  • Terrorism
  • Criminal history

When all the information is completed, the system will require the applicant to pay the visa waiver processing fee. The authorities have claimed that the fee will be minimal and it won’t be a burden for the travellers. The visa waiver will be valid for three years, and it will be minimal for the whole time. The Panama citizens must double-check the spellings and all the information provided on the application form. Any mistake and discrepancy will turn the processing from automatic to normal. In return, the application process, which will complete in 10 to 20 minutes, might take 3 to 4 days. The applicant's information must be in accordance with the Panama passport regarding the travel to the different countries and links to various areas. If there is any discrepancy in the information, the applicant will be refused, and the traveller will be denied to enter the Schengen area.

The Panama citizens will get the authorisation from ETIAS after the completion of the process. Once the authorisation is completed, it will be sent to the applicant's given email address at the time of application. The passport will be electronically linked with the visa waiver, and it will remain valid for three years. The visa waiver is linked to the Panama passport, and if the passport expires during the three year time, the applicant will have to apply for the new passport, and after that, he or she will be eligible to apply for the ETIAS. Once the passport is expired, the Panama citizen will have to leave the Schengen area at once, and after getting the new passport, they will have to go through the same process and get the authorisation. Panama citizens with more than one passport must choose the one with maximum validity and keep that passport with them all the time during their visit and stay in the Schengen area. The passport will allow the short term 90 days stay and unlimited numbers of visits to the Schengen areas. All the Panama citizens will provide the information which will be screened from the database to increase the safety and security of Panama travellers and EU citizens alike.

ETIAS is a visa waiver, not the visa to work and do the job in the Schengen area. This visa waiver allows Panama nationals to stay less than 90 days in the Schengen area or go to any of the state and conduct business meeting, transit or look for more opportunities to expand the business. But this visa waiver doesn't allow nay Panama national and other member countries to work and get employment in the Schengen area. Panama nationals will need to apply for a full-time work visa in their country from the consulate or embassy of that state, provide the documents and fulfil the requirements to attain the work visa.

ETIAS visa waiver allows the students to attend seminars of their choice in any of the Schengen area. This waiver also awards the students with the privilege to attend the brief workshops or short term short classes. But the Panama students are not allowed to enrol in any degree program or get admission to any of the university. Students willing to get a degree from the university in the Schengen area must apply and get the admission form to present in the consulate in their home country. After fulfilling the information, they will get a study visa that will restrict them in the country of the university and admission.

ETIAS is an authorisation that provides the applicant with a visa waiver that allows them to enter any of the Schengen areas. This authorisation provides the eligibility to the Panama citizens to have multiple visits in all the Schengen states. The authorisation holed can go in and out of the Schengen state unlimited time. There is only one limitation that during the 180 days or six months' time, the traveller is allowed only 90 days' time. Now it's up to the traveller to spend all the 90 days together r have multiple trips and spend these 90 days in the six months period. Once the 90 days' time is overall, the Panama nationals must stay away from the Schengen border for another 180 days' time to again get access to the Schengen area and stay again for 90 days in the six months' time.
